Much has already been written about Reiki, its origin and its background. Here, I simply wish to share my personal perspective and experience with Reiki and the path it has opened for me. The word Reiki is traditionally described through two concepts:
“Rei” refers to universal principles found in traditional Reiki teachings “Ki” refers to vitality concepts commonly described within Eastern philosophy
Together, Reiki is often understood as a system of awareness that supports personal balance and mindfulness. Reiki is described as a traditional, awareness-based practice that focuses on relaxation, presence, and conscious attention. It is commonly practiced to encourage calmness, reflection, and a deeper connection to one’s inner state. Reiki practice supports the observation of physical and emotional tension and encourages a mindful return to balance. Through this approach, Reiki promotes relaxation, self-awareness, and a harmonious relationship between body, mind, and emotions. Reiki was developed by Dr. Mikao Usui in Japan. During his lifetime, various approaches to personal balance and self-development were explored, eventually leading to the system that is known today as traditional Usui Reiki
